Digital manipulation scams are among the fastest-growing threats online, and most people don’t realize how easy it’s become for criminals to exploit altered images, videos, and audio. These scams often start with something that looks completely legitimate—a message from a trusted friend, a video that appears to show a real event, or even a voice recording that sounds unmistakably authentic. Using advanced editing tools and AI-driven software, scammers can fabricate convincing “evidence” to pressure victims into sending money, sharing private information, or clicking malicious links.
Something I experienced firsthand was when I was on social media: my feed was flooded with multiple ads/ videos trying to fish me into donating to and helping a particular cause. The more I looked into it, the less I believed was true. The accounts had very few followers, and their comment sections were full of automated, inhuman responses. It is essential to pay attention when you are online in this day and age. I fear these scams will only get worse and worse.

I 100% agree, scam and fish ads like this that manipulate you to think they are legit are becoming more and more common!
Couldn’t Agree More!
I can relate to this! I was once scammed through a TikTok video that advertised a donation to help kids in need, so I felt motivated to help, but what I thought would be a nice gesture turned into my credit card info being leaked!
Aw, man! That sucks. Sorry to hear that. As time goes on, these scams are only going to evolve.
As technology advances and AI advances, I fear we will see more and more of these possible cams and fraud pop up. Stay Vigilant and make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into!
Very true, being observant and aware is very important.
Thanks for the heads up! My buddy lost $10,000 online because he thought he could get a good deal on a Rolex, but they ended up sending him a picture of one! Good thing Banks can charge back fraudulent charges!
HAHA! yep! You have to be careful, thank god for chargebacks!
